Other Ceremonies

Child Naming and Blessing

A time of celebration and joy. Unitarians have different names for the ceremony to celebrate a new life – Baptism, Naming or Blessing. Whatever you choose to call it, the ceremony is a service to welcome the child and celebrate the continuing miracle and wonder of life. It provides an opportunity for parents and/or godparents to affirm their commitment to nurture the spiritual development of the child. The form of the ceremony will depend on discussion between the child’s parents and the celebrant. We aim for a ceremony which includes symbols (flowers, water, candlelight), prayers and readings that are meaningful to those taking part. If you would like some musical content, we have facilities for recorded music, or we can arrange for a pianist to play. If you are considering a ceremony at our church, we warmly invite you to attend a Sunday Service.

Funerals and Memorial Services

A time for remembering. We offer funeral and memorial services that accord with the wishes of the deceased and their family. The ceremony celebrates the life of the deceased in a form determined in consultation with the Minister.
